Shannon Mudd is an economist and has been a member of the Department of Economics at Haverford College for 12 years. His research has spanned international capital flows, small business lending, banking crises’ impact on expectations and microfinance. Professor Mudd founded and directs Haverford Mi3, the Microfinance and Impact Investing Initiative.  Mi3 is a member of Investors’ Circle (IC) and its national network of impact investors and Professor Mudd is an active participant in the Philadelphia Chapter. With the support of the foundation associated with an alum, Professor Mudd and his students annually consider equity investments into early-stage social enterprises in the context of a class on impact investing. They have invested into 10 social enterprises, firms with an intentional focus to address a social or environmental problems, and student alums of the class continue to work with Professor Mudd to manage the portfolio and report on its progress. Professor Mudd received his B.A. from Emory University and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
