Ashlee Cooper MLS(ASCP) is an edpreneur, k-12 and post - secondary STEAM educator, and curriculum developer, entrepreneur, and molecular microbiologist. Her experience managing, designing, and instructing STEM labs, and serving in various safety officer roles prepared her to quickly emerge as a drone industry leader — only one year after being advised to use a drone to capture images for her event planning business at the start of Covid.
Becoming a Part 107 pilot presented life-changing opportunities. Ms. Cooper’s drone-industry credentials include certification as a Remote pilot with an sUAS rating, FAA Safety Team representative, the first Black female FAA Drone Pro in the Greater Philadelphia area, and board member of the PA Drone Association. She started in the drone industry providing aerial photography and videography services to developing inclusive and relevant drone education content. She has developed STEAM-aviation training and taught uncrewed aircraft system (uas) standards for multiple organizations. Her drone instruction started with recognizing a fun way to teach her then 3 year old how to fly a drone using coding.
Passionate about the inequity of opportunity in the industry she founded Droneversity (DV). DV is committed to creating career pathways for economic development through its D.R.O.N.E.S (Drone, Representation, Opportunity, Network, Education, and Safety) project. Its students range from 3 to 78 years old, with the commercial drone pilot students having a 100% success rate for passing their Part 107 exam on their first time.
