ABOUT THE SESSION
Garry Johnson III loves learning about new problems and designing unique solutions, particularly for underserved communities. In college, he started an annual business pitch competition to empower young men of color in his community. In 2017 he was awarded for Entrepreneurial Promise, Student Leadership, and Entrepreneurial Leadership. In 2018, Garry won the first HBCU.vc Pitch Competition held at Prairie View A&M University in Texas and graduated from Cohort #4 of Founder Gym. In 2019 he was recognized by the PA House of Representatives, won the NOIR Tank pitch competition, and graduated from Dorm Room Fund’s Blueprint Project for underrepresented founders. Garry has collaborated with teams to develop several ventures, one aiming to create functional and fashionable clothing for individuals with disabilities, and another creating opportunities for a more accessible and equitable tech industry. Most recently, Garry joined the Venture Cafe Philadelphia team as Program Manager and Experience Designer, helping to curate weekly events, programming, and networking opportunities for the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Greater Philadelphia and beyond. Garry looks forward to any opportunities to collaborate with other change makers around the world.
Venture Café Philadelphia is powered by Science Center.
