Disparities in lending have been in practice by federal, state governments as well as the banking system since the civil war, written into the policy that has allows our white counterparts to create generational wealth at a greater pace than African Americans. Across every socioeconomic level, blacks have significantly less wealth than whites. Over a third of black families have either negative wealth or no assets at all. Through a panel discussion, we will consider the current landscape and discuss what can be done to create a more equitable lending environment.
