Thursday Gathering 06/06

June 6, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC-5

To enhance the momentum of the BIO International Convention, we are pleased to take a closer look at how Japan has built a collaborative life sciences innovation ecosystem. How do government, corporates, and start-ups contribute the fabric of Japan’s legacy of innovation? How does this facilitate forming global partnerships?

Philadelphia and Kobe, Japan may be a world away from each other, but the cities share a long history, mutual affection and common economic growth drivers. As Philadelphia and Kobe celebrate the 33rd anniversary as sister cities, we also celebrate both cities’ flourishing life sciences ecosystems. Cities including Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka are laser-focused on the cutting-edge research like gene therapy and editing, regenerative medicine and medical devices which will deeply impact the local and global healthcare. These cities are focused on developing global partnerships on behalf of their life science companies and research institutions.

We are delighted to collaborate with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to explore these questions through presentations, networking and light Japanese fare and beverages. JETRO manages the Japan Pavilion at BIO International Convention and Japan’s official government entity to boost business and investment collaborations between Japan and the US.
