Last week’s Venture Café (04/23) was an especially inspired one, with speakers and sessions ranging from the arts, to non-profit strategizing, to building a community in virtual times.

  • From the Drop-In Lounge to a virtual lounge. Jake Ritzheimer, Program Coordinator for the Science Center’s Quorum gave a basic tutorial on Slack; why it’s useful, how to start your own channel(s) and how to create a following.
  • Our weekly tours of artists’ studios continued. Local artist Andrea Krupp reflected back on her residency in Iceland and the resulting artwork is a statement on the effects of coal (and eventually carbon) on the environment. Make sure to check her exhibit Northlandwhen it debuts in early 2021.
  • Nick Torres, Claire Robertson-Kraft, and Morgan Berman presented a theory of change workshop for non-profits, including attendees think through questions around measurement, impact, and change capacity.
  • Eli and Lu Bevins hosted a poetry celebration that featured various poets from around Philadelphia and beyond. We were blown away by the talented artists that joined and shared their work. We’re closing out national poetry month with poetry performance this week by Annik Babinski at 3pm.
