What Does Pride Month Mean To You?
“It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love, or how you love. It matters only that you love.” – John Lennon
Pride Month is in full swing in Philly and it wouldn’t be June without a sea of rainbows lining the streets! Pride Month is such a special time to celebrate love and self-expression. This week, the Venture Café team is excited to present a special LGBTQ+ Startup Showcase featuring members of the Independence Business Alliance (Greater Philadelphia’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce). They will be sharing their accomplishments and personal entrepreneurial journeys. June is a month of reflection, education, family, community and expressing our authentic selves.
From the Venture Cafe Team—this is what Pride Month means to us:
Natalie Coyle – Venture Café Program Associate
Pride month to me means being able to celebrate living fully and authentically in your own skin, and to feel unconditional love and support no matter how you identify!
Emily Meltzer – Venture Café Program and Community Engagement Associate
To me, Pride Month means authenticity. Being your truest self in your own eyes and sharing that self with the world. I love Pride Month because it is a celebration of love and honoring the sacrifices made throughout history by members of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly communities of color, who have made this celebration possible.
Angela McQuillan – Venture Café Program Manager and Experience Designer:
As an ally with two LGBT siblings, Pride Month means a lot to me. I’ve witnessed the struggles and I am a fierce advocate for equal rights because it starts with my family. Pride Month is a time for us to remember to be proud of who we are, to always show our true colors, and that love always wins.
Tracy Brala – Executive Director of Venture Café
Love is love and pride month is the celebration of love.
Happy Pride Month!
